Protecting the Shield
Strategic Health Roadmap for Laurens County, SC
The Current Landscape
Laurens County currently maintains a student immunization rate of 95.2%, successfully holding the line at the critical herd immunity threshold. While this represents a minor increase from 95.1% in 2021, the county is seeing a significant rise in religious exemptions, which have more than doubled from 1.3% to 3.1%. With 9 VFC providers serving the community, our mission is to stabilize this trend and ensure local families have the resources needed to protect our schools.
Strategic Priorities
Laurens is holding at 95.2%. Our priority is ensuring that school systems have the continued support to prevent any slide below this critical safety margin.
The rapid rise in exemptions requires proactive engagement. Addressing concerns with science-based facts is key to community trust.
Our 9 VFC providers are the local front line. Ensuring their visibility is key to providing zero-cost protection to every family.
Sustainable improvement requires a supportive policy environment that prioritizes student health.
