Elmore County faces a critical gap in community health, compounded by outdated IT infrastructure that often leads to lost or incomplete immunization records. This tells a story of partial success overshadowed by documentation gaps. Kindergarten coverage sits at 90.11%—falling short of the 95% threshold needed for herd immunity. While 4.3% of students hold a religious exemption, a concerning 6.95% are classified as not up-to-date. These missing records are in part driven by a system that can often be challenging for local staff to use, is highly dependent on personnel being adequately trained, and does a poor job at meeting the needs of military families and other highly mobile families.
