The Health Landscape

Autauga County is currently managing a delicate balance in student health and safety. Our kindergarten up-to-date immunization rate stands at 89.34%, with 7.15% of students classified as not up-to-date and 3.5% of families utilizing religious exemptions. Addressing this roughly 10.7% gap in fully protected students highlights a broader challenge: rural and underserved communities face systemic provider shortages, making consistent access to care a primary hurdle. To address this, our intervention strategy focuses on advocating for policies that fund mobile clinics and support existing rural providers. The intended result is to create frictionless access to routine immunizations regardless of geographic location, closing the gap and ensuring a safe learning environment for everyone.
